| Program Management |
| |
| Program Management is the management of
a group of projects in a coordinated way to obtain benefits not available
from managing them individually. Programs will often include elements
of ongoing operations.
Program Management has a distinct set of “best-practices” associated
with it. For example:
|
| |
| |
• Are process standards in place to
initiate a program as they are to initiate a project?
• Does program change control include elements to ensure dependent project
deliverables don’t suffer?
• Is the program budget assembled, monitored, and controlled with the same
rigor as the project budget?
• Do channels exist that facilitate communication among program stakeholders?
|
| |
| pmMaturity recognizes
and acknowledges significant value in using procedures specifically
designed for programs of projects in conjunction with the individual
projects themselves. The Organizational Project Management Maturity
Model (OPM3©) developed by the Project Management Institute is
the framework pmMaturity uses
to assess program related process competence and enhance the value
that can be derived from it.
